A #nofilter incident of my life where I was so unprepared and bulked with negative thoughts that I postponed my masterclass. Even though I knew that this decision of mine could result in many losses and, most importantly, my reputation.
And that’s why it takes a lot of courage for me to confess this in front of you all.
So a few days back.
I shared in one of the previous posts about how we are trying new systems & revamping the entire model of my academy.
As a part of the first test run, I was to take a masterclass on the Morning Routine, which I have been doing for the past three years.
I was pretty confident about the content, and hence I made a bunch of mistakes and here’s number:
1. I Became Overconfident & Didn’t Prepare
I started the PPT the day before the masterclass and was shocked at how much time it took to structure it. Six hours passed, and I still wasn’t done.
With the masterclass approaching, panic set in. I realized I needed to prepare to show up with high energy.
Son, I rescheduled for the next day just hours before the session.
The struggle continued on day two as well. Working on the content all day, and I finished by 6 pm.
7 pm, the session was supposed to start, and I pinged my team, “I am feeling nervous, wondering how it’d go”.
Their encouragement helped me, and I shifted my thoughts with empowering affirmations, “So what it doesn’t go well. I’ll try again & again & again until I achieve success.”
The session started. And another mistake…
2. I Forgot To Switch On The Recording
We were supposed to use the recording for automation, but what are the chances 😅
However, I didn’t let that stop me and kept my energy high. Unfortunately, we ran into a time crunch.
The session, which was supposed to be 1.5 hours, lasted almost 3 hours. And when it was time for pitching, another mistake happened.
3. I Lost My Focus
When my team contacted me to speed up the pitch because people were leaving, I felt a sense of urgency. My sole focus shifted to completing the pitch quickly.
I needed to allow people more time to contemplate and fully understand the value I was offering. I didn’t give them the space to make a decision.
As a result, the conversions were not satisfactory. However, I gained valuable insights and learned important lessons from this experience.
Now, why am I telling you this story?
A few days back, one of the community members asked me,
“What to do if we easily & frequently get trapped in negative thoughts?”
And the answer is:
The only way to overcome these emotions is by taking action.
The above incident taught me that,
- You’ll doubt yourself 1000 times.
- You’ll feel nervous & underconfident.
- You’ll get insecure too.
But always do what you’ve planned. Don’t worry about the result.
Shift your mindset and always think of it this way,
“If you succeed, you’ll celebrate & learn.
If you fail, you’ll sob & learn.”
But learning will be constant in both cases for future growth.
So, if you have you ever found yourself getting easily and frequently trapped in negative thoughts?
Trust me. You’re not alone.
As a life coach, I’ve had my fair share of experiences dealing with negative thoughts, and I can certainly relate to the challenges that my clients face. To help you deal with these thoughts and avoid getting trapped, let me share a few personal examples of
How I Navigate Easily Through Negative Thoughts
1. Become Aware Of MyThoughts
I notice when negativity creeps in, and I consciously redirect my focus towards more uplifting and empowering thoughts. I detach from negativity and gain clarity by practicing being present in the moment and observing my thoughts without judgment.
This practice has helped me cultivate self-awareness and develop a healthier relationship with my thoughts. If you want, you can also talk to someone reliable.
For example, when I panicked, I reached out to my team, and their support uplifted my energy. It takes practice, but with time, you’ll rewire your brain to default to a positive outlook.
2. Reframing and Positive Affirmations
I’ve learned to reframe negative thoughts into more positive and empowering ones. Whenever I catch myself in a negative spiral, I consciously challenge those thoughts and replace them with affirmations that reflect my true potential. This simple shift in perspective has made a significant difference in my mindset.
Here are some affirmations for you to overcome negative thoughts
- I am in control of my thoughts and choose to focus on positivity.
- I release negative thoughts and embrace positive energy.
- I am worthy of love, happiness, and success.
- I have the power to overcome any challenges that come my way.
- I attract positive experiences and opportunities into my life.
- I replace negative thoughts with empowering and uplifting affirmations.
- I see setbacks as opportunities for growth and learning.
- I believe in my abilities and trust in the process of life.
- I am surrounded by love, support, and abundance.
- I am grateful for all the blessings in my life, and I choose to see the beauty in every situation.
3. Self-Care and Personal Growth
Taking care of my well-being is crucial in managing negative thoughts. Engaging in activities that bring me joy, such as exercise, meditation, or pursuing hobbies, helps me maintain a positive mindset.
Additionally, investing in my personal growth through taking a new course, reading books, attending workshops, or seeking new experiences has expanded my perspective and empowered me to overcome negativity.
